Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I book a flight?
You can use our Quote page on the website or call our 24-hr Operations contact at 1800 747 800. Our friendly staff will discuss your trip options and help create an efficient travel itinerary.
When can I go?
Our aircraft can operate 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week. However, our availability can vary with workload and aircraft commitments. Contacting us in advance will help ensure our aircraft and pilots are available for your requested flight.
Which aircraft should I choose?
Based on your flight requests our Operations staff can advise which aircraft is most suitable. We will happily provide multiple quote options for you in our different aircraft types.
Can I purchase an individual seat?
No. Unfortunately Edwards Aviation cannot sell individual seats on our flights. Please feel free to contact us so we can help develop the most efficient charter for your requirements.
Will the cost change?
No. Unless you make significant changes to your itinerary, such as adding destinations or extending the schedule, the quoted cost will not change. All of the associated fees and charges are incorporated into the quote unless specifically discussed with our Operations staff. In circumstances out of our control (such as weather delays), we will not amend the quoted cost of the charter.
Will I go through security?
No. Our departure points are specifically chosen to make transfer to the aircraft as easy as possible, meaning you don’t need to go through terminal security. At some locations, our pilots will work with airport authorities to organise the most convenient transfer to the aircraft which may involve passing through security checkpoints. In all cases, our pilots and operations staff will discuss the arrangements beforehand.
How long do I need to check in?
Not long. Depending on the location our staff and pilots will advise how long will be needed to board the aircraft and depart. In most cases our aircraft will take off within 15 minutes of your arrival at the airport.
Can I change my schedule?
Yes. Charter flights offer flexibility which is a significant advantage when your schedule changes. Our pilots and operations staff will always try to accommodate any requests but we may be limited by factors such as airport slots and allowable pilot duty times. However, with advance notice our team can nearly always help adjust your trip when needed.
Can I take my pets onboard?
Yes. Edwards Aviation is able to carry most domestic pets subject to company approval and any biosecruity restrictions.
Do I need a passport for international flights?
Yes. Although we do not need to operate from main airport terminals, we will still be checked by Customs and Immigration, as well as Biosecurity. The same requirements for leaving and entering the country apply on charter flights as airlines, so you will need a passport and also to complete any required passenger cards. This includes declaring any items carried and observing any quarantine regulations.
Are there luggage restrictions?
Some luggage restrictions may apply for your flight, particularly with larger groups or oversize items. While we don’t have individual limits for passengers, our operations staff will discuss your luggage to make sure it fits in the designated baggage areas and that our pilots can safely carry any items you wish to bring with you.
Will the aircraft wait with me at my destination?
Yes, for shorter trips. For multi-day or extended trips our aircraft may be require to return to base or may conduct other charter flights. In both cases you can amend your return flights if needed by talking to our pilots or operations staff who will do their best to adjust your schedule.
Can the aircraft fly in bad weather?
All of our aircraft are certified to operate in poor weather, both day and night. However, we will always prioritise the safety of the flight. While we can fly in rain and cloud, our experienced pilots will always carefully manage the risk of dangerous weather such as thunderstorms. This may require changes to your flight, but our staff will discuss your options and make sure that any impacts of bad weather are reduced as much as possible.
Are charter aircraft safe?
Yes. All of our operations are conducted under the same Australian Civil Aviation Safety Regulations that apply to the airlines and our pilots are trained to constantly assess and manage risk on every flight. All our pilots, engineers and operations staff work towards the same objective of being as safe as possible on every takeoff. Our staff are always willing to discuss safety, as well as our supporting internal company programs, with our customers.
